Nashville’s population explosion in recent years has resulted in some solid traffic, sky-high rental prices, and a downtown that shifts its skyline with each stunning new building that rises above the rooftops. With an influx of people has also come an influx of passion, and the owners of The Salty Cubana have brought their own heritage and heart into a menu of Miami classics. Expect a southern twist and organic ingredients at The Salty Cubana, one of the best new restaurants to give Music City a chance.
The Salty Cubana is a Nashville-born, Miami-style eatery that brings to life the classic flavor of coastal Florida with a southern twist. Rita, the owner of the indulgent concept, has conjured a series of menu items that capture Spanish tradition and the tropical flavors that make Miami great.
Although the Salty Cubana doesn't quite have its own brick-and-mortar just yet (you can be sure we'll be there when it does!) you can find the creative food stall operating throughout the city on certain days of the week.
Currently, you can indulge on Tuesdays at the East Nashville Farmers' Market (pictured), on Friday at The Basement, and on Saturday at Barrique Breweing. We recommend keeping a close eye on the Salty Cubana social media channels which we've linked below to plan your visit. You can also choose to pick up at Hunter's Station or Citizen's Kitchen in East Nashville.
The Salty Cubana focuses on natural, organic, and ethically-sourced ingredients, as well as sustainable packaging used throughout the restaurant. It's a hefty feat, especially for a smaller concept that offers both takeout and take and bake options.
You can expect croquetas, Cuban croquettes, as well as empanadas, Venezuelan cheesesticks known as tequeños, and pastelitos (Cuban puff pastries!) on the grab and go menu. The same offerings are available for a take and bake, so you can fry or bake to your heart's content at home.
Doesn't a Latin mozzerella stick made with buttercup cheese sound indulgent? Aren't you dying to try a Redland Guava pastelito, or an empanada stuffed with ham and cheese, or perhaps ground lamb and beef?
The flavor options are expansive and delicious, and you can choose takeout OR to make these indulgent, Miami-inspired meals at home. What more could you want?
We’d highly recommend checking out the Salty Cubana either on its Instagram page or official website. Both have been linked, and you’ll see a sneak peek of the delicious eats that await you!
