This Small Town Near Nashville Hosts One Of The Best Summerfests Around

It’s almost time for the summer festivities to start, Nashville! Spring seemed to whip on by and summertime came quickly, but the passing of Memorial Day weekend means that the mid-state is in full swing when it comes to festivals, parties, fireworks shows and cookouts. As your one-stop-shop for all things fine and dandy in Music City, check out the RC Cola & Moon Pie Festival taking place in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. It’s coming up!
The RC-Moon Pie Festival is held every year on the third Saturday in June, which means its 2018 date will be Saturday, June 16, 2018. Held in the small town of Bell Buckle, everyone shows up with a whole lot of pep and spitfire to celebrate one of the south's most iconic local festivals.
Bell Buckle is tiny, sure, but its personality is huge. Only 519 residents were recorded in 2016, which means the huge crowds that turn out for the annual June festival is even more impressive. Here in Tennessee, we're constantly turning expectations on their head.

If you show up to celebrate you'll experience one of the quirkiest parties in the nation honoring true southern legends: the RC Cola and Moon Pie. Take part in the "who traveled the furtherest contest" while you're there, just in case you're curious, and explore the small downtown for Moon Pie games and old-fashioned eats and treats.

The day begins with a ten-mile run that's made up of 1,000 runners. Once the race is completed (and the complimentary runner breakfast gobbled up!), the real games begin. You'll get to experience a parade that culminates in the crowning of the festival king and queen, all sorts of fun games and the cutting of the World's Largest Moon Pie.
