Nashville is known for many of its cultural highlights: the capital of Country Music, honkytonks, barbecue restaurants, delightful neighborhoods, and friendly residents. Yet spend even a few days exploring and you’ll quickly discover that the natural attractions are every bit as impressive. Today’s destination is one such place where you’ll feel compelled to visit time and time again, simply to experience its beauty in every season. Here’s more on why a visit to Radnor Lake isn’t just memorable; it’s like entering an enchanted fairytale.
Just a short drive from downtown Nashville awaits one of the most beloved parks in Tennessee: Radnor Lake State Park.
For those interested in herons, waterfowl, amphibians, and owls, this park is nothing short of heavenly. So many woodland creatures will likely remind you of your favorite childhood stories.
The lake itself is the crown jewel of the park. No matter the season you choose to visit, you'll feel as though you've landed in the middle of your own storybook. And while the park is popular, the system of trails means you'll likely find some moments of solitude, especially if you visit early in the morning.
If it's your first time visiting the park, be sure to stop by the Walter Criley Visitor Center. It's here that you can experience interpretive exhibits that will outline the park's cultural and historical significance, wildlife displays, and a large map of the trail system.
And one other thing...don't forget to bring your camera! While you'll want to spend the majority of your time here distraction-free, you'll be glad you snapped at least a few photos of the water.
When’s the last time you visited Radnor Lake? What do you remember loving most about your experience there? Be sure to share your thoughts with us in the comments below! For more information on planning your visit, be sure to check out the Radnor Lake State Park official website.
