Enjoying a meal at a beer hall seems like something you’d do in Germany, a place you’d frequent that boasts high, yawning ceilings and a slight chill outside the Germanic Black Forest. Thankfully, if you live in Nashville, you don’t have to book a flight to Europe if you find yourself craving a stein and a warm, toasty pretzel. Von Elrod’s Beer Hall & Kitchen is located on 4th Avenue in Music City, and it welcomes single diners and large groups in tandem to its pretzel and beer happy hour. Learn more below!
Von Elrod’s Beer Hall & Kitchen is a large, rambling hall located just north of downtown near Nashville’s First Tennessee Park. Just across Jefferson Street is Germantown, a historic neighborhood that boasts high-end townhomes and eateries, and the Cumberland River binds the whole area in just to the east.
The eatery and hangout spot is inspired by Oktoberfest both in menu and vibe. If you peek at its official website, you’ll see that Von Elrod’s claims to be a "larger-than-life destination for exceptional food, beer, and camaraderie." The beer hall works in tandem with an on-site bakery, butchery, and even a wood grill and smoker, so you can expect an experience every time you visit.
Smoked meats take front and center stage at Von Elrod’s, but it’s the Happy Hour Bar that puts the eatery on the map for hungry professionals. Happy hour specials are available on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Take $1 off pretzels (!), beer, wine, cocktails, and shandies! Keep in mind that specials are not offered when First Horizon Park is hosting an event. Any other Wednesday and Friday is fair game, though!
What’s with those pretzels, you ask? They’re homemade on-site, and you can order a classic Bavarian pretzel served with warm beer cheese and bear walker brown mustard, or you can enjoy a jalapeno cheddar pretzel or pizza pretzel. Delicious! They’re great to share, but we have a feeling you won’t want to…
Von Elrod’s also serves platters of Southern BBQ, homemade sausages, and pretzel sandwiches that come with a side and house pickles. Brunch is served on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. if you’d rather mix up your dining experience.
Have you ever been to Von Elrod’s Beer Hall & Kitchen? Will you be considering it for your next happy hour with the gang? You can visit for yourself from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to midnight on Thursdays, 10 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
What a neat place to indulge and grab a bite to eat. You can learn more about Von Elrod’s either on its official website or perhaps its Facebook page. Will you be noshing on a pretzel sometime soon?
