Nashville has always been known for its music and star-making industries, but did you know that the city has become a foodie destination in recent years? It’s a low-key hot spot for high-end dining and bar experiences in the American south. In 2019, the Pelican & Pig came out ahead of the rest and was named the Nashville Restaurant of the Year by Eater. We decided to take a closer look to find out why, and we have a feeling you won’t disagree…
Pelican & Pig can be found tucked away off of Gallatin Avenue on the east side of Nashville, Tennessee. The American restaurant is cheekily named and branded to clearly present its focus on high-minded creativity and play in the kitchen.
The interior of the space is both warmly designed and outfitted. Warm, dark colors, and wood accents add to a feeling of elevated comfort. Pelican & Pig emphasizes live-fire cooking both in presentation and practice in its local space.
Owners Nick and Audra Guidry dreamt up a space that brought fine-causal dining to the fireplace, and upon entry, you're met with a view of a wood-burning hearth and open kitchen. It's an exceptional experience that highlights the thoughtfully crafted seasonal menu.
Come ready to be surprised, friends. You may find anything from cornbread served with pats of butter to okra charred in umami powder. From pork porterhouse to potato-crusted bass and brunch sandwiches topped with eggs and jam, there's a little something for everyone to try.
We can't stop looking at this seasonal Pelican & Pig cake...it's a sweet potato cake frosted with salted caramel buttercream and topped with cinnamon sugar pecans and toasted marshmallow Anglaise. Unreal.
Expect decadence and high-minded dining, friends. One might also note that dinner substitutions are kindly declined in light of the thoughtfully-crafted meal and menu. You might also order from the Pelican & Pig wine and spirit menu, or perhaps the hand-selected craft beer options.
