The classic taco has become a staple here in the United States and taco eateries have popped up in response. Indulgent, easy to eat, and light on the wallet, tacos are a great lunch and dinner option whether you’re with your best friends or headed out on a date. Otto’s Bar opened in West Nashville at the tail end of 2020, and even in that short amount of time has managed to garner a local following for its menu and cocktail program. Learn a little more about this new Nashville, Tennessee, classic below! Have you been yet?
Otto's Bar, owned and operated by James and Louisa Green, is located on Charlotte Avenue in West Nashville. The taco spot opened in late 2020 with a menu of small plates and craft cocktails.
If the interior feels aesthetically familiar, remember that the Green's are the mastermind's behind Headquarters, the petite West Nashville coffee shop that managed to garner a cult following for its great coffee and warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Otto's feels just as familiar. The new eatery is located in a renovated auto repair shop, and the repurposed interior boasts benches from what was once the famed International Market on Belmont Boulevard. The nod to a Nashville institution is only the beginning of the personalized touches inside the space, including in-house interior design and craft woodwork.
The menu is varied and well-structured, with an inspired cocktail program and small plates that include everything from fan-favorite tacos to guacamole and chips.
With almost a perfect five-star rating on Google, Otto's Bar is, "everything I wanted in a local bar," says one visitor, and has a "really lovely open-air feel," says another. Great food and good vibes are on the menu, and it looks like locals already got the memo.
Taco Tuesday serves up $2 taco specials and $6 margaritas every week, and Wine Down Wednesday boasts $5 glasses of house wine and $10 cheeseboards. We'd recommend the Otto's Street Taco, a solid take on the soft taco classic or the 1980's tacos served on a hard shell.
