Every city has their own quirky personality, their own unique spin on local fare and faraway eats. Here in Nashville, the newly minted foodie city makes way for all sorts of delicious treats, from 100-layer donuts to deep fried macaroni & cheese balls. We may be in the deep south, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get ALL sorts of creative with food from around the world and down the block. If you ever find yourself in Nashville, these ten dishes and treats should be HIGH on that list of yours.
10. The seasonal fruit tartine at Crema.
The fact that you can follow up your fruit tartine with a delicious latte makes this Nashville eatery option even more tempting. Crema is well-known throughout the city for their delicious baked goods, fantastic coffee and espresso-based drinks and streamlined atmosphere. It's a great place for a light lunch and a good book. (15 Hermitage Avenue)
9. A maple bacon 100-layer donut from Five Daughters Bakery.
This family owned local bakery is a great spot if you're looking to indulge in a delicious dessert. We'd recommend the maple bacon, but seasonal specials and multiple locations around Nashville make it easy to find something sweet no matter what side of the city you find yourself. (Various Locations)
8. Bonuts from Biscuit Love
The fantastic "bonuts" from Biscuit Love have turned into a tourist magnet, so we'd recommend hopping on the freeway and checking out the new location in Franklin. Made with biscuit dough, these cinnamon sugar creations are topped with a dollop of frosting and a whole lot of heart. (Various Locations)
7. Macaroni & Cheese bites from Burger Up
Is there anything better than macaroni & cheese?! Yes. Deep-fried macaroni & cheese. Burger Up makes sure that this surefire appetizer hit is everything decadent, and we'd recommend a few orders for the table. (Various Locations)
6. Cinnamon sugar doughnuts from Josephine
We'll forever love the entire menu at Josephine's, the beautiful and upscale restaurant located at the end of restaurant row in 12 South. If you're looking for a slam-dunk home run or a dessert, we'd recommend trying out the fan favorite cinnamon sugar donuts. (2316 12th Ave S)
5. Chocolate chip pancakes from Pancake Pantry.
Pancake Pantry in Hillsboro Village has been a favorite for a while, but we're especially in love with their chocolate chip pancakes, served with a side of fluffy butter and syrup. It's truly a decadence, but there's nothing like pancakes at the famed Pancake Pantry when you're in Nashville - especially if there's chocolate involved. (1796 21st Ave S)
4. Pork tacos from Edley's Bar-B-Que.
Edley's is known for their pulled pork sandwiches and banana pudding, but the pork and brisket tacos are where it's AT if you ask us. It's almost a hidden menu item, but there's nothing more delicious than melty, ooey-gooey cheese, crispy onion bits and perfectly spiced bbq. (Various Locations)
3. Try a cookie dough cone from NoBaked Cookie Dough.
There's now a No-Baked storefront out near Centennial Park, but this cult-favorite is a great spot for a cookie dough indulgence. Whether you opt for a cone of dough, a sundae or a simple scoop, there's nothing like an epic step back towards childhood. (117 28th Ave N)
2. The San Gennaro Pizza from DeSano Pizza Bakery.
The peppadew peppers on this fabulous pizza pie are enough to keep us coming back for more, but there's just something about the crispy, chewy Neapolitan crust that just adds to the overall midtown Desano experience. (115 16th Ave S)
1. The sweet potato quinoa tacos from Mas Tacos Por Favor.
Rain, shine or snow can't keep us from this local favorite! Mas Tacos has a vegetarian taco for the books, and you may also want to check out their deep fried avocado special when they have it on the menu. The pork is also a winner, but there's really no way to go wrong at this Nashville favorite! (732 Mcferrin Avenue)
