The Natural Swimming Hole Near Nashville That Will Take You Back To The Good Ole Days
Tennessee offers up some of the prettiest and most humid natural landscapes in the summertime, and it makes us residents just beam with joy..from behind our temperature controlled home windows, of course. When the heat and homeward bound mentality tends to get a bit too heavy, we Nashville natives head on out to Cummins Falls. Just a hot second from the heart of the city, this highly popular swimming hole has a place in our Middle Tennessee hearts.

Cummins Falls is a highly popular waterfall and swimming hole located in Jackson County, Tennessee. You can find it in the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River, and it is known as the eighth largest waterfall in the state.

At roughly an hour and a half from Nashville depending on how many stops along our pretty roads you take, it's also one of the most popular swimming holes in the area. Our landlocked state boasts a solid number of waterfalls and subsequent swimming spots, but the beauty of Cummins Falls goes unmatched in the greater Nashville area.

Summer is definitely a draw but the falls are open all year. It's beautiful to see the chilly waterfall freezing over in the icy bite of the wintertime, and is unlike anything you've seen in our great state before.

If you're headed to the falls, make sure to watch your little ones and pay attention. Although the area is gorgeous it should be respected in its dangerous magnanimity. There's a certain fear that should exist in the face of such raw and rugged beauty, so bring life jackets for little ones and watch your step in the chilly water.

Cookeville is such a stunning place, and the epic hike through the forest only makes your experience all the more authentic. If you can, bring a pair of water shoes to switch out once you reach the water. Those underwater rocks can get sharp!

Have you ever been to Cummins Falls? Is is overrated, underrated or rated just right? We tend to think this refreshing dip in the Tennessee wilderness is well-deserved and needed in the hot humidity of summer, so hopefully we'll see you there!
