There’s nothing quite like a day spent in the Tennessee wilderness, and if you’re a hiker then there are plenty of hiking routes available around the great Volunteer State. Lost Creek Falls can be found near Sparta, and though it is only a short drive from Nashville most locals still haven’t hiked the quick route into the wilderness. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to spend a quiet afternoon, then you may just want to pack a bottle of water and grab your camera. The falls are stunning and so few folks know about it!
Lost Creek Falls is accessible by way of a quarter-mile trail near Sparta, Tennessee. Considered both easy and quick, the trail is usually used for birding and low-key hikes. With a spare elevation gain and an easy out-and-back structure, it's great for folks of all ages.
Lost Creek Falls itself is one of the least-known waterfalls in the area, as it's mainly overshadowed by behemoths like Fall Creek Falls and Cummins Falls. Isn't it beautiful, though?
The trail is usually fairly empty, and since it is a short distance from the trailhead's parking area you don't have to pack for a long day out. Most folks report they can finish the hike in under ten minutes.
There is a cave in the area that is popular to visit, but it closes seasonally due to bat hibernation. It's important that hikers respect the area and don't disturb the bat's natural habitat!
The rocks are very slippery around and beneath the falls, so make sure you don't hike off the trail. Lost Creek Falls is really located in the middle of nowhere, and since it is so close to Nashville it offers a great opportunity to get out and enjoy nature to yourself.
