When most folks think of a classic steakhouse, they’re probably considering a low-lit dining room with classical music and the light tinkling of glass as patrons toast the end of another day. At Cherokee Steakhouse, however, you’ll find incredible steaks paired with a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. The steakhouse is located right on the waterfront in Lebanon, Tennessee, with great views of Old Hickory Lake. The restaurant is situated less than 30 minutes from the heart of Nashville, and it’s well worth the trek.
What initially sets Cherokee Steakhouse apart is that it is only a single component of the Cherokee Steakhouse Marina and Campground. It’s true! This classic eatery can be found alongside a celebrated campground and marina, which means you can book a campsite and enjoy a steak dinner on the same trip.
The name, "Cherokee Steakhouse" is meant to honor the original settlers in the area. Tennessee was first occupied by the Cherokee tribe, and you’ll find that the locals have great respect for the Native Americans who made the beautiful state their home.
The restaurant itself is casual and offers a unique dining experience on the lakefront. Fresh seafood and hand-cut steaks sourced from the Midwest are on the menu, and Cherokee Steakhouse has been perfecting its technique and offerings since 1958. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available.
The menu is best known for its meat-centric offerings, but you’re bound to find something for everyone in your party. Expect sandwiches and burgers, as well as sides like lobster mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The filet mignon is truly delicious, and an order of baby back ribs will keep you full until morning.
The roasted prime rib (pictured) is famous and is available as a special. This particular order consists of a 12 oz queen cut steak, slow-roasted to perfection, and served with au jus on the side. Round it out with a fresh salad and your choice of side.
Enjoy your meal with a view, too! We would recommend ordering a meal and enjoying it outside so you can see the waterfront. Don’t forget to order dessert, too. The toffee bread pudding is incredible, served hot with whipped cream, and it makes for a great way to top off the night.
The Cherokee Steakhouse is currently open from Thursday to Sunday with varying hours, so make sure you check before you visit. Brunch is available on Sundays beginning at 11 a.m.
The Cherokee Steakhouse may be tucked away in Lebanon, Tennessee, but it’s worth a trek from the city. You can find out more about it and plan your trip with help from its official website and Facebook page.
