If you’ve ever spent any time in Tennessee in the summer, you know that it can get extremely hot and humid, but there’s no better way to beat the heat than to take the family out to the water park. Dollywood’s Splash Country, nestled in the hills of gorgeous East Tennessee, is the best of the best when it comes to Tennessee watering holes, but it holds some surprises up its sleeves as well. For example, overlooking the park is the platform for the tallest waterslide in the state, and it’s not for the faint of heart. If you love a good thrill, then you need to ride Fire Tower Falls.
Located in the beautiful hills of Pigeon Forge, Dollywood's Splash Country waterpark is Tennessee's favorite waterpark, both for the stunning scenery and the amazing rides.
The park is definitely geared towards families, offering all kinds of kid-friendly water features and rides that are sure to keep the family occupied all day long.
But while many of the rides at the park are geared towards kids, the park is also home to some real thrillers, including the tallest waterslide in Tennessee: Fire Tower Falls.
Riders climb up the 70-foot fire tower to slide down the steep plunge side-by-side. It's a quick but exhilarating ride that gives the riders a few seconds of that free fall feeling.
Though the slide was built in 2006, it's still a park favorite, and it's still the tallest slide in the state. That just goes to show how epic this slide has been over the years.
For those looking to wait for their thrill-seeking friends and family members, we highly recommend the 25,000-square-foot wave pool, which always has plenty of room to relax.
Splash Country is typically open every year from mid-May through the end of August, with a few days of wiggle room on either side. Be sure to get your tickets online in advance as it's often cheaper and will keep you from waiting in the lines at the park. We'll see you there!
If you want to conquer this slide yourself, check out Dollywood’s website for more information on park hours for specific days and to purchase passes to the park.s
