There’s something magical about picking berries in the summertime. Just the idea of it conjures memories of homemade berry cobbler, juice-stained fingers, and the sweet taste of a fresh berry warmed by the sun. Kelley’s Berry Farm is a locally owned farm in Castalian Springs, Tennessee that not only encourages visitors to come and pick their own berries but opens annually to welcome spades of visitors to hunt and gather their own fruit from the fields. At just under 40 miles from the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, Kelley’s Berry Farm is a fantastic spot to visit with the entire family. Learn more about this local gem below!
You'll find Kelley's Berry Farm in beautiful Castalian Springs, Tennessee, in the ever-lush Trousdale County. It's tucked away on the banks of the Cumberland River and is both owned and operated by brothers Pat and Jon Kelley.
The farm is one of the most established and best-known for berry picking in Tennessee and remains a favorite for Nashvillians. You may have seen products from the Kelley's Berry Farm at local markets and fairs, and the quality of the berries is truly unmatched.
What are you picking? Strawberries! Blueberries! Blackberries! In fact, Kelley's Berry Farm has even planted raspberries and peaches. The farm has been in operation since 1978 when its inaugural crops included just strawberries and blueberries. It has since expanded to include more seasonal fruit and even homemade blueberry jam.
It's here that you'll find high-quality, delicious berries grown year after year. From May until September you'll find Kelley's Berry Farm selling their wares at Nashville-area farmers' markets, but it's quite the experience to come and pick berries on-site.
You'll want to keep an eye out for the pick-your-own schedule so you know when to plan your trip. Strawberries are the most popular, available for picking from May to June. Blackberry picking is open from June to July, whereas blueberries can be picked from July to August.
Raspberries come into season from August to September, and you can even pick your own peaches in July. Kelley's Berry Farm really has a little something for everyone! It is recommended, however, to call before you come to visit just to make sure the crops have enough bounty for you to pick.
Have you ever been to Kelley's Berry Farm? Will you be visiting? There's a reason people love to visit, and it sure makes for a great escape from the city, if you're looking.
If you’re looking to plan a trip to Kelley’s Berry Farm for yourself, we’d recommend taking a look at its official company website or Facebook page. Happy picking and happy baking! We wish you the greatest summer bounty.
You can continue to explore all that Nashville has to offer with a pontoon boat rental (!!!) on the lake.
