Nashville is full of contemporary eateries and newly minted restaurants (especially downtown!), but sometimes folks really just want to cozy up in a low-key space with comfort food on the menu. The Hermitage Cafe is located just south of Nashville’s downtown, and it’s been around for a good long time. This is the kind of southern restaurant that not only serves up something yummy, but is endearing in its humble presentation. If you’re looking for someplace to call your own, it’s the Hermitage Cafe.
The Hermitage Cafe is an old-school diner that's become a Nashville favorite amongst visitors and locals alike. In the last handful of years its experienced a whole new influx of tourists as the city has expanded, and folks rave about the traditionalist menu and kind hospitality found within its walls.
The cafe has been honored as one of Nashville's "Best Cheap Eats" by Southern Living, and was even used as a filming location for ABC's hit show, "Nashville."
The menu is highly affordable, boasting a Texas breakfast completely with an 8 oz rib-eye, two eggs, home fries AND the choice of toast or biscuits and gravy come in at a mere $12. The burgers are perhaps the best known lunch item, and a single hamburger is a mere $3.
An egg sandwich with cheese is $2.50, and breakfast platters like the Country Ham Steak Breakfast come with home fries and toast for just $8.50. Good on the belly AND the wallet, this is one meal you won't want to miss.
The reviews online are absolutely raving. Folks are always happy with their affordable plates of cheesy omelettes and crisp hashbrowns, and the locally-owned restaurant has a friendly atmosphere that speaks strongly to southern hospitality.
The Hermitage Cafe did undergo a solid period of interior updating in 2015, and it was documented by the show, "American Diner Revival" on the Food Network.
You can visit for yourself from 12 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and again beginning at 10 p.m. Open 7 days a week, the Hermitage Cafe is always ready to and raring to sate your late night cravings. Happy indulging, Tennessee!
