Fall is a wonderful time in Music City. Once the heat of the summer drifts away and is replaced by cool, crisp mornings, the city comes out of its air conditioning and starts to party. From book festivals to barbecue festivals to festivals celebrating some of the weirdest things you can celebrate (like fainting goats…?), there is no shortage of things for you and your family to do in Nashville this Fall. The best part? All of the ones we have listed here are absolutely free. Who could pass these up?
The Southern Festival of Books draws writers and readers from all over the country every October, and it's absolutely free! Seating for events is first come first served, but the booths outside are always selling books to anyone who is interested. The 2018 edition of the festival is October 12-14.
The Tennessee Craft Festival brings craft vendors from all over to the Centennial Park lawn for three days of arts, crafts, and more! The festival usually has over 200 booths, so there's something for everyone. The 2018 Fall edition is slated for October 12-14.
Musician's Corner also takes place on the lawns of Centennial Park, and it's a favorite of all Nashvillians for its free music and plethora of food trucks. They run every Saturday in the Spring and Fall, but it's always worth checking the lineup ahead of time to see who's playing.
Bells Bend Park is one of the most secluded but also the most beautiful parks in Nashville. Every Fall they hold a farm day, complete with farm animals, hay rides, and more. The 2018 edition is scheduled for October 13th.
Pumpkinfest in downtown Franklin is one of the many, many reasons why it's one of the best small town Main Streets in America. Celebrating all things Fall and Halloween, it routinely draws more than 60,000 people, so be sure to get there early for parking. This year's event is October 27th.
The African Street Festival has been celebrated in North Nashville for over 35 years, and it's always a great party. The festival takes place in and around Hadley Park and celebrates African music, culture, and heritage. The 2018 festival is scheduled for September 21-23.
Yes, there is an entire festival for goats right here in Middle Tennessee, and it's amazing. For more than 15 years, this festival has celebrated the fainting goats of Marshall County with music, street food, and more. The 2018 edition is taking place on October 12th and 13th and will feature big-name country acts on the main stage.
