Although you probably have your eyes set on the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, which we highly recommend, these seven experiences within the city are also pretty neat for a spare Saturday.

Located about an hour south of Nashville, this Lynnville, Tennessee-based distillery is one of our favorites in the state and well worth the drive. We promise, it's not a Nashville bait-and-switch! The Nelson's Green Brier Distillery is a historic part of Nashville, reopened by the Nelson family after its original closing a century ago. The Nelson Distillery was once a larger business than Jack Daniel's, if you can imagine, and now offers tours in the heart of the city.

Prichard's Distillery serves up Tennessee rum and whiskey, which should fit everyone's palate. Open since 1997, with the purchase of a ticket you can tour the grounds and learn all about the history of the estate.

Smith Creek Distillery has a storefront here in Nashville, and it boasts not only bottled moonshine, jams and dry rubs, but their moonshine tasting bar is one of a kind. Although you'll be in a substantially more suburban setting, it's a great way to get fit strong into a busy day.

Open since 2010, Corsair Distillery is one of our favorite spots in town. Located on the northwest side of town in Marathon Village, you may recognize the space as the original location of Yazoo Brewery. You can tour the space every day of the week, every hour on the hour depending on seasonal offerings.

This Nashville newbie opened its doors just two years ago and is owned by a former DNA laboratory director. Its fun and and scientific approach to age old distillery methods is fascinating and educational.
