Everybody knows that Nashville is full of good restaurants, but it seems like the more and more people come to Music City, the harder and harder it is to find a restaurant that isn’t packed to the gills. There are, however, a few places around the city that are still fairly unknown, yet offer some of the best food you’ll have anywhere. We’ve looked under every rock and in every alleyway to come up with this list of 10 restaurants that are still flying under the radar – how many have you tried?

This restaurant is hidden in the basement of the Johnny Cash museum in downtown Nashville, but for those who find it, it's a real treat. The food is excellent and the entertainment is, dare we say, magical. Address: 119, Lower Level, 3rd Ave. S.
This restaurant is tucked in an alleyway behind the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, but the food is as authentically Southern as it gets. Everything here is incredibly fresh and local, and the vibe is on point. Address: 210 Almond St.
Of all the barbecue joints in Nashville, arguably the most underrated of them all is Papa Turney's. Located right next to Nashville Shores, they often have live music on their stage inside. Address: 3979 Bell Rd.
Margot in East Nashville was the "it" restaurant before being the "it" restaurant was cool. They've been featured in USA Today, The New York Times, and even the London Telegraph as one of the best spots in the city. Address: 1017 Woodland St.
This unassuming Thai place on busy 8th Avenue South is so much more than it seems from the outside. They've got some of the best and most authentic Thai in the city. Address: 2213 8th Ave. S.
Barbara's Home Cookin' in Franklin is like going to your grandma's house and having the best Thanksgiving meal you've ever tasted. It's the perfect Southern kitchen, though it often doesn't get the hype of many of its Nashville counterparts. Address: 1232 Old Hillsboro Rd.
For all the hip pizza places popping up recently, there's one that has been a staple for some time in Edgehill Village: Bella Napoli. You'll find it in a hidden alleyway, but it's so worth the search, especially when it's nice outside and you can sit on their patio. Address: 1200 Villa Pl. #206.
Wendell Smith's has been open on Charlotte Pike for decades and is the place locals go for their meat-and-three when they don't want to wait in line at Arnold's. Address: 407 53rd Ave. N.
Big Al's is tucked into the Northern end of Germantown, and it's the best diner food you'll ever find. Seating is very limited, so getting their early or during non-peak times is helpful, but the experience is so worth the wait. Address: 1828 4th Ave. N.
