Nashville's Most Refreshing Hike Will Lead You Straight To A Beautiful Swimming Hole
Nashville, stuck right in the heart of middle Tennessee, has a tendency to get wildly, incredibly hot during the summertime. The humidity can get downright oppressive, which means hoards of folks find their way out to nearby lakes, rivers and swimming holes to cool off during the warmer months. A top favorite outside of Nashville is Cummins Falls, an easy hike with a huge pay-off.

Cummins Fork State Park is located roughly nine miles north of Cookeville, and the 282-acre park boasts the eighth largest waterfall in the state of Tennessee.

At seventy-five feet tall, it's an impressive sight for the weary traveler. In order to reach this gorgeous spot? You have to hike to the gorge.

The hike itself is considered "adventurous" and is not great for little ones. Bring your rough and ready kids, the kind that can hike in sturdy shoes and watch out for slippery spots in the trail.

You'll have to walk through knee-deep water to get to the bottom of the waterfall, so make sure you bring waterproof shoes! The hike is roughly a mile out to the waterfall, and a mile back. Not too shabby for a beautiful dip in a swimming hole, right? Right.

Since you are a solid mile out into the wilderness, you'll want to make sure that you keep a close eye on all members of your party. Be safe when swimming, and keep all dogs on a leash during your time at the falls.

Considered one of the best falls in the southeast United States, Cummins Falls can be found roughly ninety minutes from the heart of Nashville, Tennessee. It's a beautiful hike, one that's just as stunning in the winter as in the summertime.

You can visit this day-use park any day of the week, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the daily. We'll see you there, adventurous Tennesseans!
