During the winter season, it seems like the entire state of Tennessee goes into hibernation mode. It’s when everyone wants to curl up with a blanket and watch a movie. When Gatlinburg cabin rentals soar to sky high prices, because there’s nothing more beautiful than cozying up with a cup of cocoa in the mountains to the east. Although Middle Tennessee may not have the mountains or the Mississippi, it does boast a series of small town hideaways that lend themselves to snuggling season. Franklin may be growing beyond the size of a small town these days, but once you set foot on Main Street, you still feel like you're in a movie set in the cutest rural town you've ever seen. Just outside of Franklin in the beautiful, hilly countryside, Liepers Fork seems like a magical place stuck in time. The town is really nothing more than a crossroads, but there, you'll find some incredible shops and restaurants, all in classic farmhouse-type buildings. It's a great spot to spend a chilly winter day.
While Bell Buckle is best known for its RC Cola and Moon Pie Festival that it holds every June, colder months are also a great time to visit this adorable little town. Be sure to pop in to the Bell Buckle Cafe on the main strip downtown for a great meal where you'll be treated like family.
