No matter who you are or how old you are, Christmastime is always something special. There’s just something magical about the crisp, chill air, the anticipation of seeing family, and all of the Christmas festivities that gives the season a special energy. When it comes to Christmas, Nashville does it well, but there’s a town just a short drive from here that really goes above and beyond when it comes to the Christmas season. You’ll just have to see for yourself everything that’s happening this Christmas in Clarksville.
Christmas on the Cumberland, their annual city-sponsored light show, runs from November 20th through the end of December and features over one million lights on a stunning half-mile walk along the Cumberland River.
Clarksville is also known for their annual Christmas parade, where all of the floats are lit, and the air is abuzz with festive cheer. The 2018 parade is scheduled at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 1st.
The Downtown Commons, a large open space in the heart of the city, is home to an annual Christmas ice rink where you can bundle up and enjoy a leisurely skate in the shadows of the historic buildings downtown.
If you're wanting something indoors, The Roxy Theater is the spot to be. They show all kinds of Christmas movies every year, from newer holiday films to the classics you know and love. Find showtimes at their website.
Venture a bit outside of town to Erin's Farm, a Christmas tree farm that will take you on holiday hayrides with hot cocoa and so much more. This year's Winterfest is on December 2nd, but they're open on weekends from now until Christmas. You can even blow your own glass ornament there!
For a quieter Christmas experience, head to Historic Collinsville, a small restored frontier community that hosts an annual light show. The 2018 light show is on December 14th and 15th.
No matter what you love about Christmas, the city of Clarksville has something for you. So if you're looking for extra holiday cheer this year, head to Clarksville - you won't be disappointed.
