When you think of Nashville you may conjure up ideas of the city’s extra-popular (and extra expensive!) CMA Fest or noshing on all the fried chicken in the city. You probably have a list of restaurants that runs an arm length and grand plans for drinking your way down Broadway. The thing is, everything seems to cost money and it makes it hard to do it all…which is why we found ten super fun things in the city that won’t cost a dime this summer. 11. Learn a little something at the Tennessee State Museum.
It's free to visit the Tennessee State Museum, and the current downtown location is chock full of local and southern history. It's a great exploratory experience for adults and children alike.
Fort Negley once operated as a Civil War fort, and you can now visit and wander the gorgeous grounds. Take a spin down the walking path with panoramic views of the city and explore Nashville history at the visitor's center.
As one of the most popular local hiking spots is well-worth a visit from - well, pretty much any one. The lake loop trail is easy to hike and great for children as well as adults.

8. The Nashville Symphony Concerts are downright dreamy.
The Nashville Symphony offers free summer concerts through the months of June and July, and is considered one of the most popular community concert events in the city. It's definitely one of the most elevated!
The gorgeously renovated Riverfront Park brings you right up to the banks of the Cumberland River and has one of the most beautiful views of the city at sunset.
The Nashville Tomato Art Festival is one of the wackiest in the south, and will celebrate its 15th annual event this August 10th and 11th. It's a fun way to hobnob with the locals and enjoy food from all sorts of vendors.
Contemporary and classic artists headline Nashville's Live on the Green music series, a late summer outdoor concert that takes place downtown and draws hordes of locals and tourists alike. Moon Taxi and Ingrid Michaelson have played in the past, so keep an eye out for this years headliners!
Musicians Corner is a free event that takes place in the Nashville summertime, all the way through the end of September. Visit Centennial Park to listen to all sorts of talented musicians while noshing on meals from food trucks and local vendors.

3. Find a partner at the Centennial Park Big Band Dance.
Swing dancing lessons precede a night of dancing at Nashville's Centennial Park. The event is free, and we'd recommend you bring lawn chairs to enjoy the beauty of the summertime experience.
The Nashville Shakespeare in the Park event is a highly cultured and elevated experience that brings food trucks and quirky folks all into the mix at Centennial Park. This year you can enjoy A Midsummer Night's Dream from August 9th to September 9th.
There's nothing more Nashville than hot chicken, and the Music City hot chicken festival is fantastic for a free walk around some of the city's finest vendors, but hey - bring a buck or two. The Fourth of July event is well worth a few dollars to enjoy a solid Nashville lunch.
