Nashville has upped the culinary ante in recent years, and it’s shifted from its once singularly focused southern cuisine to a bona fide melting pot of ethnic offerings. Chaatable recently opened its doors on the west side of Nashville, and it’s quickly become known for its flavorful menu and colorful presentation of classic Indian street fare. If you’re looking jolt your tastebuds and indulge in something new then there’s no better place to head for lunch or dinnertime. Check it out below!
Indulgent Indian street fare is the name of the game at Nashville's newly opened westside eatery, Chaatable. Located in the darling Sylvan Heights neighborhood, it's a local gem that's well-worth a repeat visit (or two!).
The interior is both colorful and casual, and the Sylvan Heights-based eatery offers lunch and dinner options as well as weekend brunch and Happy Hour. It's also a great spot for families, if you're looking to bring your littles.
Reservations are recommended, especially during dinner hours, and can be made online. Locally owned and operated, the restaurant's very name, Chaatable, was modeled after the Hindi word for "lick," which is "chaat." It's the first sign of decadence, and there are many more to come.
Owners Maneet and Vivek have sought to infuse the light-filled space with the nostalgia of their childhood's in India. The eye-widening array of colors and wafts of decadent eats from the kitchen will send you straight across world in a heartbeat.
There's a broad offering of fare at Chaatable, so you're bound to find something salty or tangy or sweet, whatever you're in the mood for, on the menu. Each meal has a cheeky name, like "Sahri, Not Sorry" or "The Okra Winfried Show," which adds an element of fun to an otherwise decadent meal out.
There's even a vegetarian menu for folks who require something a bit different for their diet. We'd recommend the O.M.Ghee, ghee toasted cashews with chaat masala and curry leaves, as an appetizer if you're looking to kick meat.
Brunch is nothing to turn your nose up at here at Chaatable. There's an entire menu of specialty cocktails, like the Karma Coffee made with cacao and the Cinnamon Girl made with grapefruit gin and elderflower. Indulge in an omelette served with xacuti gravy and add paneer with the Fold On For One More Day brunch option. There's even saffron infused french toast!
Will you be joining? You can dine for yourself during lunch and dinner hours that differ depending on the day of the week. Make sure to make a reservation if possible, and plan to pitch up for happy hour from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m, if you can. Happy eating!
Continue to indulge this season with a trip to Nashville’s first ever tiny house eatery. It serves up delicious renditions of macaroni and cheese, the nation’s favorite comfort food.
