Here’s the thing: we love a good salad every now and then. Especially during the warmer months when its difficult to cool off in the mid-summer humidity. While we’re still shaking off wintertime and moving into the warmer days of spring, however, we need some solid comfort food and fuel to get us through the fun days ahead. We found ten restaurants scattered across the city that are perfect if you’re looking for a meal that tastes great and keeps you sated from one hour to the next.
10. The Donut + Dog - 2127 Belcourt Avenue
The Donut + Dog combines two of our very favorite carby treats: donuts and hot dogs! Although the latter does have a little bit of protein, it's still the best kind of decadent, especially paired with a brioche donut from behind the counter. This fun new Nashville concept is well worth a visit.
9. Fenwick's 300 - 2600 8th Avenue S #103
We're a big fan of Fenwick's 300 when we'd like a solid amount of food paired with a mid-morning brunch date. There's no reason to make an event for a smoothie run, right?! Stock up on modern American diner classics like the BLT and steak and eggs for breakfast and lunch.
8. DeSano Pizza Bakery - 115 16th Avenue S
Neapolitan Pizza gets a Nashville face-lift with the low-key Desano Pizza Bakery in Midtown. Order to share but come ready to eat - all of their pizzas are handmade and ready in record time, boasting chewy Italian inspired crust and a glut of topping options.
7. Five Points Pizza - 1012 Woodland Street
Order by the slice or the pie, and make sure to snag some garlic knots! Five Points Pizza is a fun place to grab a quick meal alone or where you can spend an hour meandering the carb gamut with friends. Make sure to grab a craft beer on tap while you're there, too.
6. Bella Napoli Pizzeria - 1200 Villa Place
Bella Napoli serves up some of the best Italian food in the city, and has been hard at work in Music City for years. Its darling and small Edgehill location boasts a magically lit seating area along the alleyway. Their authentic brick-oven pizza has no close competitors in the area, winning us over with its crispy crust over and over again.
5. Burger Up - Various Locations
Burger Up has multiple locations in the city, which means its only that much easier to indulge in a Marathon burger or their sweet potato truffle fries. The newest location is in East Nashville, and offers an open and airy space alongside their fabulous burgers.
4. Nicoletto's Italian Kitchen - 2905A Gallatin Pike
Nicoletto's tends to be forgotten, since its tucked away on a northern strip of Gallatin. We, however, find it to be one of the city's hidden gems. Their ingredients are fresh and their chefs are kind, with only the best of Nashville in mind.
3. Proper Bagel - 2011 Belmont Boulevard
Proper Bagel brings a streamlined New York City cool to Nashville's Belmont area. We'd recommend noshing on their avocado toast or an everything bagel with cream cheese - you really can't go wrong with the classics.
2. The Mockingbird - 121 12th Avenue N
American comfort fare gets a grown up spin at The Mockingbird, a high end diner located right on the outskirts of the popular Gulch neighborhood. Share meatloaf with your love and reminisce over a slice of pie. This is truly the kind of adult place that childhood dreams are made of.
1. Pastaria - 8 City Boulevard
The St. Louis-based Pastaria made a huge splash when it opened in Nashville in mid-2017, and it has only continued to wow with tenure. We'd recommend their fried risotto balls and cacio e pepe if you're a cheese fan - and make sure to stop by the bar! It's not only beautiful, but stocked to the gills with everything you need for the perfect cocktail.
