Nashville has made a name for itself as a true “foodie” city, and new, contemporary eateries have popped up all over the city. Whether you’re looking for Instagram-inspired bars or upscale restaurants, Music City has something for everyone. Still, the city is old. It has a deep, dear history, and there’s no experience in old school fine dining quite like a meal at the Capitol Grille. Learn more about it below, and perhaps plan an anniversary dinner or simple lunchtime visit for yourself. It’s like a step back in time!
Capitol Grille is located in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, and boasts one of the most historic fine dining experiences in the city. It's known for serving simple, traditional southern meals and locally sourced ingredients.
There is no denying the grandiosity of the Hermitage Hotel, where Capitol Grille is located. Originally known as the "Grille Room," nowadays you can visit for an indulgent meal paired with a sparkle of history. Isn't that lobby just stunning?
Capitol Grille itself offers a relaxed, homey feel with an upscale edge. The history of the building and restaurant is important, so keep an eye out for the historic photographs peppering the space. Though the atmosphere is traditional the menu remains seasonal, so no visit is quite the same.
Locals and tourists alike rave about the brunch menu which boasts everything from carrot french toast served with whipped cream cheese and candied walnuts, to buttermilk waffles and herbed potatoes. The lemon poppyseed pancakes served with Greek yogurt and strawberry jam are also noteworthy!
Of course, lunch and dinner are no less indulgent. You definitely want to come hungry! $16 blue plate specials are served throughout the workweek, and entrees of pan-seared salmon and Maine diver scallops dot the tight dinnertime menu.
Here you can see a photo of the original culinary team in 1910, at the restaurant's grand opening. This historic photograph was gifted to the hotel from the descendant of one of the featured chefs, Humber Corsini.
