The natural expanse of Tennessee is perhaps one of the most beautiful in the United States and tucked away in Williamson County you’ll find the oft-forgotten Bowie Nature Park. Made up of over 700 acres of forests, fields, and lakeside trails, it’s a great spot for families to bring their little ones and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy a day in the fresh air. If you haven’t heard of this hidden gem here in the Volunteer State, you just may find yourself surprised! It’s a truly gorgeous park you won’t want to skip.
Bowie Nature Park is located in Fairview, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville in bordering Williamson County. It's best known for its forested trails and a treehouse playground for the littles.
You can access the 700 acres of forest and 17 miles of trails throughout the year, and folks enjoy everything from fishing to walking and cycling throughout the park.
There's a nature center on-site that features an outdoor classroom and picnic areas perfect for hosting community events. You'll find that the park is also popular for field trips and educational groups.
You'll find that most folks using the trail are hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers, but if you'd rather you can choose to wander sections of the trail system designated for foot traffic.
If you're coming with little ones, make sure that you pack a picnic! There are lakeside picnic tables that are perfect for sharing a meal in the great outdoors.
During the summer season, Bowie Nature Park even hosts "Camp Bowie," day camps that make it easy for kids to learn about nature while having a good time. It's perfect for explorers ages 5 to 12.
The on-site and hands-on educational programs available at the park are thoroughly underrated, and you'll find that the calendar of programs and events include everything from hiking with a naturalist to strolling through nature with your tiniest tots.
