There’s A Hike Near Nashville That Leads You Straight To An Abandoned Village
Middle Tennessee is full of absolutely stunning parks and natural areas, and Big South Fork National Recreation Area is no exception. The park is full of trails that lead to waterfalls, natural stone arches, and even an abandoned town. The town is difficult to find, but the dedicated explorer can find it with a little research. The town is nearly gone, as it’s been abandoned for nearly 60 years, but it’s well worth the trek to find it.

The Big South Fork National Recreation Area sits right on the border between Tennessee and Kentucky on the Cumberland Plateau. The park has some of the most secluded and beautiful spots in the entire state.

Once, the park was home to a town called "No Business." It's an odd name for a town, but it was actually around for a long time. Founded in 1796, the last resident left in 1960, and the town has since nearly been lost to time.

The town itself is actually pretty hard to find, and there are very few pictures of it available. Big South Fork is an absolutely stunning backdrop for people to explore and search for the town, though.

This picture was taken of No Business back in the 1970s, only about a decade after its abandonment. The National Park Service states that the town has all but disappeared now, but there are some who claim to have found it along the banks of No Business Creek.

The spot isn't marked on any official maps of the park, but legend is that he site is near the John Muir overlook at the end of a small horse trail that follows No Business Creek.

If you're up for a little adventure, the trek to No Business is just the thing for you. It's a great way to experience the history and beauty of Tennessee all at once.
