Finding a good place to eat in Nashville is not a difficult task, folks. It’s finding the right place to eat in Nashville that really presents a conundrum. With so many boutique eateries and high end restaurants and dive bars scattered across town, it can get really overwhelming to find just a simple, high-quality spot to snag a sandwich and catch a breath. Well, good news. We found it. Located to the west of city center, the Nations neighborhood is home to a true blue local secret: 51st Deli.
51st Deli is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it local deli that serves everything from breakfast all day long to decadent subs. It's a true Nashville bodega, and the pride and joy of The Nations neighborhood. Located in west Nashville, it's a slight trek from downtown for newbies, but a time honored pilgrimage for locals.
The interior is fairly simple, with a highlight on the expansive menu. 51st Deli is located in what used to be a Savemore Super Market, though now the long counter is filled with high-end meats, cheeses and produce perfect to stack your sandwich high.
If you're looking for breakfast, 51st Deli opens their doors bright and early at 6 a.m. The 51st Morning burrito is a favorite, stuffed with eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers, cheese and your choice of meat. The breakfast sandwiches are a true asset to the menu as well. Is there anything better than egg and cheese on a bagel? We think not.
Sandwiches, hot chicken and waffles, tacos, breakfast burritos...there's really nothing 51st Deli hasn't done and done well. The back wall offers an expansive fridge full of beverages as well, so you can whet your whistle while you fill your belly.
If you haven't been, 51st Deli is a must in Nashville. You can visit for yourself from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and beginning at 8 a.m. on Sundays.
