My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Do you remember the first time you were completely captivated by the silver screen? It might have been the first time you saw flying monkeys leave the wicked witch’s lair, or maybe when you first saw a T-Rex chase a jeep in Jurassic Park. We rally around coming-of-age stories like Goonies or marvel at Marty traveling through time. So whatever that moment may be, we have been captivated by moving pictures ever since. You can relive those moments at this movie-themed ice cream parlor in Maryville, Tennessee.
The Capitol Theatre Coffee & Ice Cream Parlor in lovely downtown Maryville sits as if untouched by time.
The marquee has been around since 1934 but has since been restored with bright LED lights. This adds a layer of modern-day technology to a historic piece allowing the history to really shine through.
Walking into the original lobby of the Capitol Theatre, you will see a monumental display dedicated to movie-making.
Your eyes will instantly be bombarded with a plethora of eye candy. Hanging movie memorabilia will be on coming down from the ceiling and on the walls. Everywhere you look is a reference to some classic movie. Wookies will be found along with Gremlins and the Goonies.

There seems to be no end to the pop culture references.
You can see Pirates of the Caribbean next to Harry Potter and then leads to Captain America’s shield. Everything from The Wizard of Oz to the more modern Marvel classics are represented. You can even play with a Flux Capacitor while sitting at one of the booths.
You can order a Gizmo, which is a vanilla shake with a double shot of espresso and a caramel swirl. If you would prefer, you can change it to a chocolate shake to make it a Gremlin. Just don't save it to eat after midnight.
You could also get The Goonie Truffle Shuffle, which is rocky road ice cream with a caramel swirl, chocolate truffle, and of course topped with Baby Ruths. It is so good you might be doing the truffle shuffle yourself right there in the lobby, but it is not recommended.
So if you want a silver-screen romance or a blockbuster office party, you can rent it out. With options for table seating, open space, or rowed seating you can have a party, concert, or even an epic movie night. The stage is set, so to speak, for your unique and creative event.
There are a lot more options at this movie-themed ice cream parlor in Maryville, Tennessee. But just like that summer blockbuster you are excitedly anticipating, you will have to wait till you go there yourself to see the rest. We encourage you to see the lobby yourself, and we won’t spoil any more of it. For any more information please visit the Capitol Theatre’s website.
