My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
With so many amazing small towns and big cities dotting the map of Tennessee, it is easy to see how blessed we are. These charming places make up the backbone of our state and are filled with hidden gems. We love to visit these little places and seek out those hidden gems within the Volunteer State. When it comes time to settling down and raising a family, however, I have to say Union City makes an appealing case for being the most peaceful place to live in Tennessee.
Union City is located near the northwestern part of Tennessee. It is not very big but still maintains a cross between country living and suburban life.
The city got its name because this was the spot where two major railroads met; thus the name "Union City" was born. More than 11,000 people call this city home and at first glance, it may seem that there isn’t much to do in the town. Dig a little deeper, though, and you can find a wealth of value in this lovely place.
Like most of Tennessee, the pace of life is slower and I personally love that about our state.
Even more, you will find people who are friendly and people who really look after each other. The sense of community is one of the reasons this makes for such a peaceful place to live. Groups of people will be gathered throughout the year to celebrate holidays and events and is a great time to get immersed in the culture.

Downtown you will find a local treasure known as the Capitol Theatre. This historic building was built in 1927 and is run by a local theatre group that performs several shows throughout the year, including musicals and classic plays.
This incredible place is more than just a children's museum. It is a place where kids and adults alike can experience science and history in a hands-on and interactive way. At The Discovery Park of America you can marvel at the dinosaur fossils, explore the interactive exhibits, or climb the observation tower -- the options are seemingly limitless. The grounds are filled with tranquil fountains, flowers, and a historic restored village that is a must anytime you visit.
There are many things to do a short distance from Union City, too.
Just 30 minutes from town, you'll find Reelfoot Lake State Park. This area is home to a beautiful lake where you can peacefully paddle along the water or take a waterfront hike. This state park is known to have lots of bald eagles, so be on the lookout whenever you visit to see these impressive and mighty birds. For more information about the park, make sure you visit the Reelfoot Lake State Park page.
Of course, if you don’t want to leave the city limits, there is a beautiful lake waiting for you at Veteran’s Park. This park has a paved walking path leading around Veteran’s Lake that you can casually walk. Along the way take a seat at the benches or bring a picnic lunch for a fun afternoon by the water.
Overall, Union City is a lovely place to get involved with a friendly community, settle down, and raise a family. This is also a town that has much to offer the deeper you dive into it, so setting down roots would give you a lot to look forward to throughout the coming years. This is certainly a peaceful place to live, and if nothing else it is certainly worth a visit! Make sure you check out the Union City website for more information about this lovely and charming Tennessee town.
