Savage Gulf is a 15,560-acre natural area that straddles both Grundy and Sequatchie Counties. Located on the very edge of the Cumberland Plateau, it boasts over 50 miles of hiking trails and a slew of backcountry camping opportunities.
Visitors rave about the waterfalls and the rugged sandstone cliffs that stud the natural space. The spring wildflowers also add a bit of beauty to this lushly forested stretch of Tennessee.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park in the United States. It's shared between Tennessee and North Carolina and is made up of 816 square miles.
The Appalachian Trail runs straight through the sprawling, forested landscape, and the prime weather conditions make the mountains a perfect place to hike in the heat of a southern summer.
There are miles of hiking trails and driving loops for visitors, which makes it easy to experience the Smokies on foot or from the convenience of your vehicle. A single day can include views of rivers, waterfalls, year-round streams and views of the rugged, misty mountains.
Cades Cove is a popular place for visitors, as is Clingmans Dome. The Dome is accessible after a quick drive up the mountains to a communal parking area, then a half-mile hike up a paved trail to the lookout. It's the highest point in the mountains.
Hiking is the most popular pastime in the Great Smokies, but families tend to lease cabins for the weekend. Visit Gatlinburg or Sevierville if you're looking for unique experiences and decadent dinners.
The gorge has carved its way through the Cumberland Plateau and boasts a stunning, craggy view from its edge. The land has been protected by the Tennessee River Gorge Trust since 1981.
