Margaritas remind us of the dog days of summer, those heated afternoons that keep us reaching for pitchers of something chilly and refreshing. Although Tennessee is nowhere near the great culinary country of Mexico, that doesn’t mean the state isn’t able to bring a really good margarita to the table. We’ve covered quite a few miles throughout Tennessee to bring you some of our favorites from across the state.
Take a look below, and see if your favorite hot spot made the list. If not, leave your recommendations in the comments!
Known for its healthy and raw meals, AVO quickly became famous for their avocado margarita. Creamy, refreshing and downright delicious, you can pair your marg with a side of raw "ceviche" vegan tacos or raw pad thai. Yum! Address: 3 City Avenue #200, Nashville, TN 37209
A local favorite, Poblano's is known for its generous portions and friendly staff. The low-key atmosphere and quality margaritas make it the best kind of spot to visit during the heat of summer. Address: 2697 Boones Creek Road, Johnson City, TN 37615
Located in the heart of Nashville's downtown area, Bakersfield has a ton of tacos available and a handful of margarita choices. Whether you're looking for top-shelf liquor or maybe a quick refresher, Bakersfield has something great on the menu. Make sure to order the guac, too! Address: 201 3rd Avenue S, Nashville, TN 37201
You can't talk about margaritas in Tennessee without mentioning Memphis. Molly's is located in a cute adobe structure and boasts the title of "Memphis' Best Mexican Food and Margaritas." We aren't here to question it, but rather to revel in the stunningly perfected margaritas available on the daily. Address: 2006 Madison Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104
This colorful restaurant serves up everything from tacos to fajitas, with perfect margs on the side. There's nothing that says "summer" more than a plate of Mexican food with a margarita on the side, and this affordable and family-friendly spot makes for a great place to refuel in Chattanooga. Address: 6231 Perimeter Drive #127, Chattanooga, TN 37421
Frozen margaritas, anyone? Millington may not be considered a true "foodie city," but there are some magnificent margaritas here. Choose to indulge in a glass of something fresh on the rocks or frozen, with flavors like mango, peach and raspberry on the menu. Address: 8507 US-51 #112, Millington, TN 38053
Located just outside of Nashville, Dos Margaritas prides itself on being one of the most highly acclaimed Mexican-centric eateries in the area. The atmosphere is fun and low-key, making it easy for families and singles to come and feel welcomed, and the margaritas pair perfectly with a side of homemade salsa and chips. Address: 4 Industrial Park Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075
Before you indulge in a marg or two, why don’t you check out this refreshing hike? It leads you to a swimming hole!
