There’s nothing like a sticky bun to conjure up those sweet memories of childhood spent with loved ones. It’s a comfort food for a reason, and finding the best, most nostalgic, perfectly sticky sweet bun in Tennessee can be a tall order. At least, we thought it was, until we made our way out to Columbia, Tennessee, and found Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse. Located a solid drive out from Nashville, this small town eatery sure knows how to make a sticky bun the way grandma did. There may even be a few surprises in store…
Marcy Jo's Mealhouse and Bakery is a tiny, locally owned eatery that's situated in a former general store on the outskirts of Nashville. The Columbia, Tennessee, hot spot is a true legend when it comes to southern hospitality and classic eats.
The interior is both homey and unique, with out-of-state license plates adorning the walls and mismatched tables and chairs making up a majority of the restaurant's seating.
Traditional southern fare is prevalent on the menu, with everything from biscuits and gravy to fried chicken served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Make sure to check the menu for their daily specials, if you'd like to snag an indulgent meal for under $10.
Is there anything better than a classic southern breakfast? We think not. Of course, it's the cinnamon rolls and pecan sticky buns that really take the cake here at Marcy Jo's. The eatery is famous for their morning pastries, that have even been featured on a national level by the Food Network.
Just take a moment and think about what a perfect morning could be spent with a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll. Doesn't it look decadent? Cinnamon rolls and sticky buns cost $4.95 for a single bun, and pans of each are also available.
Marcy Jo's Mealhouse and Bakery is open for varying hours throughout the week, for both breakfast and lunch. Make sure to double check before you visit, and get ready for a sweet and savory treat!
