As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Williamswood Castle is located just short of downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by the wooded beauty of the Ijams Nature Center. This gorgeous spot is styled and designed after the castles of Scottish lore, with the guests – ahem, lords and ladies – treated with the utmost royal treatment. Whether you’re looking for a stunning wedding venue or a neat weekend away with friends, the Williamswood Castle is an experience you don’t want to miss.
Located at 643 Alamo Avenue in Knoxville, WIlliamswood Castle has created quite a name for itself. With 4,500 square feet of space, it boasts multiple fireplaces, two decks (one of which is a multi-level deck!), a bookshelf that hides a hidden stairway, and 42 stained glass windows. Yeah, you read that right. Forty two.
Did we mention the ponds, gardens and forest land that surround the estate, or the raving reviews from visitors that have come before? This place has truly been given the royal treatment, from the window dressings to its extensive landscaping and stonework.
The murals on the ceilings are absolutely stunning - in one of the large bedrooms, there's a replica of the Sistine Chapel painted on the ceiling. What with those huge windows and stained glass pieces of artwork, you'll feel like you were born a blue blood years and years ago.
Careful for those of you over six feet tall - this sleigh bed won't be very comfortable for you! The castle is chock full of antique pieces, sourced from all over and carefully curated inside the castle for an authentic Scottish experience.
Shh...there are three secret passages hidden throughout the house! You can see the owners' granddaughter giggling over one here - it's an experience you'll love even as an adult.
Weddings can be scheduled on the property, but they are not included in per-night rate. You'll want to speak with the owners for a great date that works for all of you, then proceed to plan your perfect day. What better backdrop?! You don't even have to cross an ocean to get their, either - your guests will appreciate it.
The castle is quite secluded, surrounded by 300 acres of the Ijams Nature Center. There's also 500 feet of riverfront that borders the property, and an array of wildlife that enjoy their forested home right outside your doors. This is truly a step back in time, an experience worth every penny - and the reviews speak for themselves.
