If you’re visiting sweet ol’ Tennessee, you’re most likely looking to indulge in fun eats and sweet treats. It’s not the kind of state where you’re looking to stick to a diet or “watch your figure.” You’re in the south, folks! It’s where you indulge in macaroni & cheese and collard greens and all sorts of pies and cookies and sweet treats. There’s nothing like the south to put a little meat on those bones, and this delicious local cake and candy shop in Lynchburg, Tennessee, is well worth a visit. Or two.
The homegrown business has perfected their own recipes, and with almost 300,000 pieces of candy coming from this small storefront, it's a true local legend. You may know Lynchburg for its Jack Daniel's Distillery, but it's the 135-year-old family recipes here that does the town some good.
Here you can indulge in everything from a Lynchburg whiskey praline pecan to an old fashioned jam cake to Lynchburg whiskey balls. The Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company has even been featured in Paula Deen's son's cookbook, Road Tasted, by the TV show The View and even on the Food Network.
We have to say, from experience: the Lynchburg Whiskey Cake is well worth the trek to this rural Tennessee town. Decadent, dense and delicious, it's the kind of cake that's enjoyed over coffee or tea in the late afternoon. Perfect.
Free tours are offered daily, and there are products for purchase at the Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company location as well as in shops across Middle Tennessee and the United States.
You can visit for yourself at 134 Cashion Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company is closed on Sundays.
