Memphis, Tennessee is known for many things, but most don’t immediately think “tea shop” when they call to mind the city of blues and barbecue. The Little Tea Shop is situated right in downtown Memphis and has made a name for itself in the local community for its retro feel and homegrown hospitality. Learn all about it below, and perhaps set a time for a southern-inspired luncheon yourself. There’s nothing better than chatting with your best friends while nursing a delicious glass of sweet tea.
The Little Tea Shop is known for its jaunty neon sign and vintage exterior in the heart of downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Of course, this little storefront promises a whole lot more than a step back in time.
As one of the oldest restaurants in Memphis - it's been in operation since 1918! - the Little Teashop has managed to retain a level of nuance and quality with a menu that revolves around southern cooking and comfort food. It's well-known in the area, but has also been featured on the Food Network a whopping 28 times!
The casual space is welcoming to all and makes every diner feel like they've gone back in time. The waiters and waitresses are kind and helpful, and the meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and served with aplomb.
The menu itself remains simple and delicious. You can order everything from meatloaf with gravy on Wednesdays to Friday fried catfish or seafood gumbo. The specials change depending on the day, so make sure you come ready for something new every time you visit.
Whether you're indulging in stuffed avocado with shrimp salad or salmon croquettes, there's something for everyone on the Little Teashop menu. We'd highly recommend the Lacy Special, which is a chicken breast between corn sticks that's both topped with gravy and served with rice and veggies. Yum!
