Tennessee is best known for its gorgeous farmhouses, with their broad front porches and perhaps a perfectly distressed barn or two in the backyard. It’s a southern state, which means that Tennessee is expected to serve up bbq with banjos and a bit of sweet hospitality on the side. Of course, that’s not the case throughout the entire state. Nope, Jim Oliver’s Smoke House Restaurant Trading Post is a fun little spot that boasts a log cabin vibe, perfect for the ones who love the forest.
Jim Oliver's has been serving the folks on Monteagle Mountain since 1960, and claims 20 million happy customers in its long and illustrious history. It's an incredible reputation that has been long in the making, a true Tennessee legend.
What began as a simple restaurant, filled with 80 seats and a staff of 14, has since grown into a true family legacy. With over 500 seats available for patrons and 70 employees as well as a fun general store on the property, this is a true hotspot for locals and travelers.
Come for the food, stay for the music! In its 50th year, Jim Oliver’s started to feature an acoustic music show on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s free to all patrons, with the first act starting at 7 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m. The schedule is available on their official website.
You can order from the buffet for an all-you-can-eat adventure, or perhaps order your own entree like fried catfish with cornbread and a side. You won't be leaving hungry, that's for certain. Make sure to order yourself a side of fried green tomatoes!
