My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Discovering Tennessee is a lot like looking up at the night sky. With little light pollution, you can see an impressive blanket of stars — but the more you look, the more stars appear. Soon you get a full view of the heavens above; a starry sky that’s brilliant, dazzling, and beautiful. When you are looking for hidden gems, the Volunteer State just keeps showing off with more and more incredible places. The deeper you search, the more hidden gems you can reveal. That is what it was like to discover this natural bridge in Waynesboro, Tennessee.
I love finding these little places that very few people know about -- the kinds of places that feel like real-life treasure hunts.
You might not have ever heard of this natural bridge before because it is located on private property. The Tennessee Fitness Spa owns the land and uses it as a week-long camp that includes exercise, nutrition, and lodging. This is certainly an interesting place to spend the week, but the natural bridge hidden within lures guests in to take a closer look.
If you are staying for the week you will have complete access to this natural wonder, but if you just want to see it there are a few things you have to know before you go. The area is closed to anyone 16 and under so unfortunately you will have to make this adventure without your little ones.
The guests who are staying for the week at the fitness spa will be leaving on Sunday and new guests arrive later that day. The owners have graciously allowed outside guests this window of opportunity to see this beautiful space on Sundays. All you have to do is stop by the office and fill out a quick paper and you can walk down to the natural bridge.
Your visit is completely free and the owners are happy to share the little slice of heaven they have found. The creek runs right through the area and you can find some solitude among the rock formations. A pro tip would be to show up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. which will give you the greatest chance to enjoy the place all by yourself.
The Fitness Center is open from March through November so that will be the window you will want to plan your trip for. Not only is this a natural area with stunning rock formations and stunning beauty, but it is also a historic place. Make sure you read all about it from the informational signs when you go.
The crystal clear water, the arches, and the layers of rocks make this one surreal sight to see. The ice cave is another must-see place where the air dramatically shifts to a cool 58 degrees year-round. Spend some time exploring or allow the soft and tranquil trickle of water to carry you away as you peacefully enjoy the natural bridge.
This natural bridge in Waynesboro, Tennessee, certainly qualifies as a hidden gem. The rock formations are awe-inspiring and not only will you see one arch but two. This formation is known as a double span natural bridge and it is the only one of its kind in the whole world. Talk about unique! For more information please make sure you visit the Tennessee Fitness Spa website, stay a week or come to see the natural bridge.
