Tennessee is known for its barbecue, with each of the different regions of the state being known for different styles. While you can find wet, whole-hog barbecue all over Tennessee, true Memphis dry-rub is much harder to come by in the Eastern reaches of the state. One couple in Chattanooga is looking to fix that with their new restaurant in an old, converted convenience store. While the space may be small, the barbecue has massive flavor, and this hidden gem likely won’t be hidden for long.
Charlie's Quik Stop BBQ opened in October of 2018 in an old neighborhood gas station and convenience store, and much of the decor is reminiscent of the store's roots.
Their specialty is barbecue, of course, and they're actually one of the only restaurants in Chattanooga that dry rubs their meat with the sauce on the side.
They serve plenty of other classics like burgers as well, and they even have some specialty items like this Smoked Juicy Lucy, a cheese-stuffed burger that is absolutely incredible.
Charlie's Pit Stop aims to be a neighborhood hang-out, and they aim for that y keeping their prices affordable. Lunch sandwich deals start around $6, and full-blown dinner plates are $16-$18.
Charlie's Quik Stop is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for now, but look for their hours to change as they continue to ramp up their business. Visit them today in Chattanooga at 2309 East Main St.
