Have you ever seen a ghost? October is over for 2017, but the eerie edge of the month carries us straight through to the darkness of winter. Prospect Hill Bed & Breakfast is a popular spot for locals, whether they’re getting away for a quick weekend or celebrating a wedding, but the location has an interesting story. Take a look, ponder the possibilities. Then book a room and tell us about your experience in the comments – we’d stay here any day!
Prospect Hill Bed and Breakfast Inn is a gorgeous location in Mountain City, Tennessee, a romantic spot that's tucked away in the mountains and far from the stress of the city.
There's a bit of a story to the place, though. A few spirits that call the inn their home. They're friendly and kind, and have come to live in tandem with the inn's owners and frequents guests.
Some guests have reported hearing the sound of a crying baby, without a child in sight. Others have woken up to the smell of baked goods and peanut butter, though still others share stories about the smell of rose perfume or bourbon wafting down the halls.
Some, white staying in their gorgeous, historic rooms, have found tongues of fire in their photographs, though the fireplace wasn't operating at the time of the picture. A Civil War soldier is said to stare out the upstairs window, caught between worlds.
The six-thousand square foot mansion was built in 1889 by a former major in the Union Army. Modern amenities like indoor plumbing, electricity and heating were added in the 20th century, and was owned by three generations of the Rampo family before being passed on to Robert and Judy Hotchkiss. They hailed from Atlanta, and converted the home into a bed and breakfast after extensive renovation.
We'd recommend a visit to the haunted inn, for a romantic weekend away for a bit of a ghost hunt. There's nothing sweeter than spending a bit of quiet time in the natural wonder of Tennessee - and maybe meeting the people who lived many years before.
