My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Science can be one of the coolest pursuits out of all academic studies. The search through the unknown to understand the great mysteries of our universe is certainly an alluring prospect. We are naturally curious and filled with the desire to learn more and figure out the world around us. This is the outstanding drive behind the great technological advances we have to this day. Hands-On Discovery Center in Gray, Tennessee aims to marry the wonder of discovery and a fun family establishment.
Back in the year 2000, a construction crew made a very interesting discovery in Gray.
What started as a simple construction project turned out very differently from the original plans. When the first fossils were dug up, the crew knew they'd unearthed an archeologist's dream. Fast forward to today and scientists are still digging out fossilized creatures. The museum now sits on an active dig site.
The museum part of the property will take you through the history of the dig site where lots of cool skeletons are on display.
There are many interactive opportunities to see science in process. Figure out how to connect circuits, explore with built-up pressure, and create your very own paper cup rocket. There are plenty of opportunities to play and learn in a hands-on way.
There's a second building dedicated to all things creative.
Build unique and interesting structures with blocks, use the magnetic board to make your very own Rube Goldberg machine, or create works of art using the craft supplies.
There are more than enough fun activities to keep kids and adults engaged for hours. From the fossils to the interactive approach to science, you are sure to have a great time at this dig site and museum.
Whatever brings you to this hands-on museum in Gray, Tennessee, may it be the fossils or the hands-on fun, you are sure to enjoy your time. This is a unique take on your typical hands-on museum experience, and we get to benefit from it right here in our state.
