Nashville might be known for being “Music City,” the town of innumerable honkytonks and hot chicken, but there’s always a dark side to every flare of city light. If you’re looking for something odd, quirky, downright unique and a little bit creepy in the heart of Nashville, you need to check out Hail, Dark Aesthetics. This tiny shop is truly off the beaten path and is bound to be a place you’ll never forget. If you don’t believe us, you can take a look for yourself below.
Hail, Dark Aesthetics is located off of Gallatin Avenue. As resale boutiques go, it's a bit on the offbeat side and also quite quirky. What does that actually entail, you might ask?
Step across the threshold and you'll find everything from darkly themed jewelry to taxidermy. Looking for a coyote skull, a raccoon skull, maybe a tortoise shell? It's here.
There are a ton of interesting t-shirts to choose from as well, if you have a dark sense of humor. You simply need to choose one from their massive wall of shirt stock!
There are multiple books on topics like ouija, fortune telling, and death. Learn about mysticism or tombstones, perhaps even delve into the history of cannibalism. Gulp!
Of course, it should go without saying that this shop is best digested by adults and mature younger folks, so consider yourself warned. Hail, Dark Aesthetics is great for those with a refined taste in the occult, perhaps not the best for grandma. Unless your grandma is curiously interested in taxidermy, then by all means!
The inventory is truly massive, from decorative bird plates to stuffed monkey paws (!!!) to a bride of Frankenstein wood cutout. If you need something odd, this is the place to find it.
You can visit Hail, Dark Aesthetics for yourself in East Nashville, any day of the week. Hours: Monday to Saturday, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
