My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
We certainly have lots of unique places to spend the night in Tennessee. There seems to be no shortage of creative ideas when it comes to building new structures in our state. We have treehouses, domes, tiny homes, converted trains — you name it, and we’ve probably got it! But we have to be completely honest: we have never quite seen anything quite like today’s feature destination. There is a Greek Cottage hiding in the woods and we think it is the best unique stay in Johnson City, Tennessee. One look at this stunning rental and we are sure you will agree.
When you book a night stay at the Greek Cottage, you will first drive across the stream on an impressive man-made bridge and into a wholly different world. You might recognize this place, however, if you are an avid "Building Off The Grid" watcher -- this cottage was featured in an episode of that show.
The cottage looks strangely out of place as a structure typically found in (ancient) Greece, and yet, fits perfectly into its natural surroundings. The whole building is inspired by Dordic Greek architecture, but with a Tennessee twist. The columns in the front were actually pulled from the rock quarry on the property. Not only does this breathe new life into these fallen trees, but provides a beautiful way to marry the two styles.

The masculine exterior pairs perfectly with the more feminine details found on the inside.
This modern cottage is filled with simple and profound details. The spiral staircase will be the first attention-grabbing piece in the building when you open the doors. The whole living space will be flooded with natural light through the massive windows, which will give you the feeling that you are still outside, but with a roof over your head.
With enough space to sleep up to four people, the choice is yours in terms of who you'd like to bring on this getaway. The upstairs loft features one bedroom and the other is downstairs, both with queen size beds. You can rest like high-class citizens of Greece in this opulent cottage!
There are one and a half bathrooms in the cottage and both of them feature magnificent lighting and light fixtures.
The bathroom with the walk-in shower showcases a brilliant mosaic pattern in the tiles. In ancient Greece blue was an important color and was used in subtle ways throughout the design and the owners made that attention to detail as well. If you notice there are blue lines within the flooring guiding you to each room.
This is the ultimate place to unplug and relax. Spend some time walking the perfectly manicured grounds or have a campfire late into the night. During the day make sure to spend some time at the rock quarry. The beautiful setting with mirroring water is the picture of tranquility.
What do you think of this amazing place? We are all ready to pack our bags for a weekend at the best unique stay in Johnson City, Tennessee. There is nothing quite like this around anywhere so when you want something truly different this Greek Cottage is the place to book. For more information, please visit the Greek Cottage Airbnb page.
