The holiday season is full of fun and beautifully designed local events. It’s the time of year that quirky, bright, and kitschy reigns supreme, and Nashville, Tennessee does a great job with their own grand displays of holiday lights. The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center is located on the outskirts of the city and boasts one of the most beautiful holiday displays in the city. If you haven’t been to this free display of Christmas cheer, then you definitely need to make it a priority this season.
The Gaylord Opryland Resort, referred to simply as Opryland by locals, boasts almost 3,000 rooms and over 9 acres of indoor gardens. The building itself manages to capture the energy of Nashville, and every holiday season the entire property lights up with Christmas cheer with the "A Country Christmas" display.
From November through early January, Opryland lights up with over 3 million lights and full acres of incredible, unique holiday decorations. Everything from the trees to the hallways are decked out in holiday cheer.
There are all sorts of fun events offered on the property, but if you're choosing just to walk through the atrium, it's completely free. You can indulge in an evening flush with millions of lights, and an outdoor nativity scene for nothing but your time.
Of course, there are all sorts of activities to indulge in at Opryland. From a gingerbread decorating class to photos with Santa and carriage rides, there's no end to the fun.
Make sure to check out ice skating and an evening spent on the General Jackson Showboat, if you're looking for a night to remember. Rudolph's Holly Jolly Feast is a fan favorite, as is the Reindeer Games Scavenger Hunt.
Opryland offers the best opportunity for free fun in the Middle Tennessee area. The grounds are impeccably decorated, and there's not an opportunity missed when it comes to lights and drama. You can visit whether or not you're a guest at the hotel, though we'd recommend staying the night if you can swing it!
You can visit the Opryland and indulge in this holiday display of lights from November 8th, 2019 to January 1st, 2020. If you're looking for tickets to special events, you can find them on the Opryland official website, linked below.
