When it comes to having adventures in Tennessee, there’s truly nothing better or more fun than getting out in the great outdoors and experiencing the beauty of the state with the ones you love. In the heart of the eastern state, you’ll find the stunningly beautiful Forbidden Caverns, a set of caves that welcomes tourists all year long to experience its grand and great beauty. Although it has since closed due to the 2020 pandemic, folks can’t wait to experience the historic locale one day soon.
Forbidden Caverns can be found near Sevierville, Tennessee, and boasts one of the most incredible cave experiences in the state. Due to the pandemic of 2020, the local attraction was required to close its doors, but we're already excited for its potential reopening in 2021.
Why are we so psyched, you ask? Visitors have the chance to indulge in a fun and educational 1-hour tour that takes them through a beautifully lit cave with an underground stream and a handful of natural grottos.
Native tribes in the area once used flint from these very caverns to create everything from arrowheads to knives and scrapers. There's even an entire wall of cave onyx!
You'll want to keep your eyes peeled as you descent a few hundred feet below the surface, where you'll find the natural river and underground rock chimneys.
The Forbidden Caverns has been open since 1967 and remains a great place to visit for folks looking to indulge in a bit of natural local history. Ticket prices vary, so when the Caverns reopen you'll want to double-check fees for the tours.
