The age of the drive-in movie theater and fast food restaurant have long since passed, the excitement of eating in the car has given way to drive-THROUGH eating, and it seems as if the fun of waiting in the car and gaining a meal in a few short minutes has mellowed with time. If you live in Tennessee though, you don’t simply have to relegate your old fashioned experiences to a Sonic fast food restaurant, because The Hop ’50s Drive-In is doing its best to subvert expectations and keep culinary nostalgia alive. And in our opinion, they’re doing a pretty phenomenal job.
The fun, retro vibe is paired perfectly with an old fashioned menu including hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dog bites, pork chop sandwiches and fried chicken sandwiches.
One of the best aspects of The Hop 50's Drive-In is the price point. You can snag a hamburger AND hot dog combo, including fries and a soft drink, for a spare $7.49. If you're just looking for a cheeseburger, sans combo, you barely need to break a $5 bill.
From grilled cheese to an old fashioned banana split, chicken nuggets to classic soft serve, The Hop 50's Drive-In offers a "step back in time" via your very happy taste buds.
If you're still awaiting service, keep your car headlights on. If not, you simply turn them off and wait for your order. It's quick, easy and fun. Thanks, Maryville, for your 1540 E Broadway stunner. It's a true Tennessee gem!
