The city of Jonesborough was founded in 1779, a full 17 years before Tennessee was even a state! Today, the town is one of the nicest towns in East Tennessee with plenty of shopping, restaurants, and other activities in the cute downtown area.

The town of Skullbone is really no more than a crossroads in East Tennessee, but it's legendary for its quirkiness. The odd and unique general store is the only thing in the town, unless you count the telephone pole where people have nailed pairs of cowboy boots throughout the years.

The Tennessee Safari Park is one of the most underrated attractions in the state. Located in Alamo, about an hour and 15 minutes outside of Memphis, the drive-through park has more exotic animals than you can shake a stick at.

One of the most famous (or infamous) train engineers of all time was Casey Jones, and his house is still historically preserved in Jackson as a museum. The museum features Jones' history along with the history of rail in Tennessee, and it even has a small cafe.
