The holidays are certainly a time of year that evoke all kinds of feelings for all kinds of people. Kids are excited at the hope of seeing St. Nick on Christmas Eve, and parents are just getting over the PTSD from their trips to the mall for last year’s gifts. Thankfully there are plenty of other, less traumatic activities all around the state for parents to enjoy with their whole families. We’ve found just a few that’ll get you away from the lines and in to the magical holiday state of mind.
The Enchanted Forest in Memphis has an annual festival of trees every year that features extravagantly decorated Christmas trees, a gingerbread house display, model train sets, and more! It runs through the end of December. Find out more at their website.
The famous Bristol Speedway lights up every year for the "Speedway in Lights" display, and it's truly an unforgettable experience. The drive-through display takes you through some incredible lights and even takes you on to the track of the speedway itself.

The Opryland Hotel in Nashville is known for their extravagant light displays every holiday season. Drive around the grounds to see the outdoor displays, but be sure to walk around inside the hotel as well for the full experience.

Every year in mid-November the famous Graceland Mansion gets decorated with traditional Christmas lights and decorations from the period of the King himself. This is a nostalgia trip for all the parents and grandparents out there, but it's sure to be a good time for the kids as well.
Every year in December, the town of Franklin throws a massive party on Main Street called "Dickens of a Christmas." The festival features a lot of period decorations and costumes from the times and stories of Charles Dickens. In 2018, the event is scheduled to take place on December 8th and 9th.
