A hotel that sits just beyond the base of a waterfall, that sounds like an amazing perk to put on a brochure, don’t you think? Unless you’re Evins Mill in Smithville, Tennessee, a darling, locally owned accommodation and events center that features not only a waterfall, but hiking trails, swimming holes, and fishing ponds. Whether you’re looking for a beautiful place to get married or maybe just a spot to stay in the great outdoors, this Tennessee beauty is highly worth the weekend investment.
Evins Mill was originally recorded as Lockhart's Mill, but it's the Evins family legacy that clings to the stunning, naturally lush property. Edgar Evins was a state senator and local businessman who built the current mill on the property, and the business and location were passed on through the family.
Years after the Evins' ownership expired, the property reopened as a business that hosted retreats and wedding ceremonies. The location has since undergone extensive on-site expansion and landscaping projects. You'll find everything from updated restrooms to boardwalks connecting the buildings on-site.
Evins Mill offers everything from private rooms with meals provided to property rentals for your family events. Not only will you have access to the beauty of the land, but perhaps the most stunning aspect of the property...
The waterfall is located on the Evins Mill property, so you'll either have to reserve a room for yourself or purchase a $25 "Day-Tripper" package for a day's access. Evins Mill will also provide a sack lunch for day-trippers.
The trail to the falls from Evins Mill is roughly a mile long if you take the North Trail, and about 1.5 miles if you take the South Trail. Both are beautiful, but the North Trail offers views from the fall's overlook.
Have you ever been to Evins Mill? Will you be booking a weekend away, or perhaps planning a day trip to the falls? This is one experience that's unlike any other in Tennessee, and it comes highly, highly recommended.
What a beautiful place to stay! You can learn more about booking at night at Evins Mill or perhaps even just exploring the options on the property either at its official website or Facebook page.
