Tennessee is known for its decadent Southern dishes, but there are also plenty of places where you can try out exotic flavors from other regions of the world. One of the best spots in Tennessee you’ll find is the Edessa Restaurant in Nashville, a local hidden gem that serves up some of the best Turkish and Kurdish food you’ll find anywhere in the state. If you’re looking for some unique flavors to try out, then look no further, this is the spot for you!
Like many of the dining institutions on Nashville's Nolensville Pike, Edessa is a spot that many folks might pass up at first glance, but inside is some of the best food you'll find anywhere in the state.
Of course, if you don't want to share your meal, you can order any of their entree platters. From doner to kabobs to lamb shank, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
The restaurant itself is a nod to the city of Edessa, the ancient name of the modern city of Urfa on the border of Turkey and Syria. The Edessa restaurant prides itself on highlighting the foods and flavors of that region.
One of the most unique and popular items on the menu is the Gozieme, an Anatolian flatbread that's full of spinach and cheese. It's quite possibly the perfect finger food.
Of course, you'll need to finish off your meal with dessert. The baklava, pictured here, is absolutely to die for, but if you're feeling more adventurous, try the Kunefe, a dish of shredded wheat, cheese, pistachios, sweet syrup, and ice cream.
