Tennessee is one of the most naturally beautiful states in the nation, hands down. There’s nothing like wandering the mountains and valleys of the Volunteer State in the springtime! As the state quiets and honors the shelter in place mandates that have been implemented across the nation, beautiful places like the Cumberland Caverns have found ways to entertain folks from the comfort of their homes. You may not be able to go spelunking, but the McMinnville-based Caverns just might bring the adventure to you. Check it out below, and perhaps experience the fun and excitement for yourself.
Cumberland Caverns is conveniently located between the great cities of Gatlinburg, Chattanooga, and Nashville, and has provided fun day trips beneath the surface of Ol' Rocky Top for years.
It's the largest show cave in the state and offers a series of spelunking adventures and group tours throughout the year. Folks have been known to visit for everything from a field trip to a wedding. Can you imagine tying the knot beneath the surface?!
Visitors will see everything from impressive rock formations to gurgling streams, underground waterfalls and pools of cool water on their trek through the Caverns.
Of course, social distancing mandates have made it a bit difficult to get outside and underground nowadays. Cumberland Caverns has closed their daily tours to the public, but have come up with a fun new way to experience the Tennessee caverns...
...virtual experiences! It's true. With a quick visit to the Cumberland Caverns Facebook page, you'll find a whole series of videos that tour you through and around the McMinnville caverns. It's completely free, and a fun way to adventure through Tennessee's underbelly from the comfort and safety of your couch.
