Tennessee has changed a lot in the last fifty years. There are even some places (ahem, Nashville) that seem to change every year with all the new people moving in, but thankfully there are some places that just seem to be stuck in time. One of these places is the tiny town of Granville, right on the banks of the Cumberland River. There, you’ll find the nicest people, the most delicious country cookin’, and the best old-time general store this side of the Mississippi. If you’re looking for a trip back in time, look no further.
About an hour outside of Nashville in the hills of Tennessee lies the tiny town of Granville, and at its center, one of the best preserved old-time general stores you'll ever find: T.B. Sutton's General Store.
The store has been in operation since the 1800's, and it's the absolute linchpin of the community. Not only is it the town store, it's also a restaurant and the spot where all town events take place.
They even do an event called the "Sutton Ole Time Music Hour" every night. It's a bluegrass concert that is broadcast over the radio every week, and it's some of the best music you can find in the state.
Their real highlight though is the rows and rows and rows of different homemade jams that they sell. They make their own jams, and they're the best you'll find in Tennessee.
T.B. Sutton's is everything good about Tennessee. The best time to go is Saturday, as they're only open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find them in Granville at 169 Clover St.
